The Wild

I tame the wild and the untrimmed
And the wild bites the hand that feeds;
The untrimmed blossom for the distant star
And leave behind their thorns and crumbling dead leaves.
I watch them grow with pride,
Give my all to see their smiles;
They test the world through my calloused fingers
Until they are perfect - and I am an empty vessel.
I say, help me to my feet my dears,
For I wish to tread the same path as you – together;
But the trial run is over and spent,
The real game starts, the first sacrifice at hand.
They are stronger, they toss me aside.
They are faster, they leave me behind.
They are grateful; they kiss me one last time.
They are happy, it’s time to say goodbye.
I tame the wild for others to treasure,
For I was never the one they love.
I bleed to death just for a forever;
But the cycle is completed, because now
I am the abandoned wild.
